Obituary of John Robert Bob Dunn

John Robert “Bob” Dunn, 88 PEABODY – John Robert “Bob” Dunn, 88, beloved husband of the late Gloria (Soucy) Dunn, died on Saturday January 16, 2016 at the Frisbee Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Fenwick H. and Evangeline (Nadeau) Dunn. He grew up in Lynn. He enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war he went into the Merchant Marine before getting married. Mr. Dunn was a Baker at Cushman’s Bakery in Lynn for several years. Later he trained in the electronics field, and was an Electronics Inspector with RCA for years, then with the Mitre Corporation before retirement. Bob enjoyed gardening, camping, and fishing on lakes, ponds, streams and the ocean. He did TV and radio repair, enjoyed woodworking, and skilled in auto mechanics. He also performed with the SPEBSQSA Barbershop chorus in the Salem and Beverly Chapters. His most passionate devotion was to his family, and will be dearly missed. Among his kindness, fondness for teaching children, great sense of humor, and general happiness, he was well-known for his distinctive, hearty laugh. He is survived by his son Kevin L. Dunn & his wife Janet of Methuen; his daughter Cheryl (Dunn) Digou & her husband Ron of Raymond, NH; his daughter-in-law Cheryl K. Dunn of Reading, PA; his loving grandchildren Kevin L. Dunn, Jr., Kimberly A. Dunn, Sean M. Dunn of Salem, MA, Andre Digou of Providence, RI, Janara Digou of Lambertville, NJ, Kelly Dubois of GA, and Kenneth Dunn, Jr. of Reading, PA; a brothe George Dunn of Port Charlotte, FL; a sister Margaret Niska of Rowley, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his wife and parents, by his son Kenneth Dunn, brothers Fenwick L. Dunn, Jr, Alfred Dunn, and sister Ruth Cole, Alita Bergstrom, and Helen Plourde. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Thursday January 21, 2016 for a visitation from 9 – 10:30 A.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the Inn at Deerfield Facility, 34 Ridge Road, Deerfield, NH or the the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
