Obituary of Virginia "Ginnie" (Ross) Riley
Virginia “Ginnie” (Ross) Riley, 88, loving wife of the late Robert “Sheik” Riley, died at her home with her family by her side on Friday, January 15, 2016. Ginnie was born in Melrose on January 23, 1927 daughter of Frank and Ida (Fales) Ross. She was raised in Marblehead and graduated from Marblehead High Class of 1945 and pursued her education at the University of NH. Ginnie was a loving Mom who created a wonderful home for her husband and children. She relished following and supporting her kids with their athletic and scholastic accomplishments. She loved entertaining her family and friends, spending winters at the family condo in Lincoln, NH, and traveling with her family. Her many interests included skiing, golfing, playing tennis, gardening and rooting for the Patriots. Ginnie is survived by her children and their spouses, Robert “Bob” and Tricia Riley of Marston Mills, Richard and Linda Riley of Lincoln, NH, B. J. and Mark Shaw of Beverly, and Linda and Paul Dube of Boxford; her grandchildren and spouse, Erin and David Walsh, and Christopher Riley; step-grandchildren and spouse Jason Dube, Jarrett and Chantal Dube, and Josh Dube; her great grandchildren, Riley and Greta Walsh; step-great grandson Greyson Dube; and many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, 18 grand dogs & 2 great grand dogs. She was also predeceased by her sister Jeanne Nelson. As per Ginnie’s wishes a family committal of her ashes will be held in the spring. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Ginnie’s name to the St. Jude’s Hospital, www.stjude.org or the Jimmy Fund, www.jimmyfund.org .
