Obituary of Arlene M Cook

Arlene M. (Feeley) Cook, 92, of Salem and formerly of Peabody, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 23, 2016 following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Charles S. Cook. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Mary (Higgins) Feeley. Arlene was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1940. Upon marrying her husband Charles in 1944, she moved to Salem where she has lived for the past 72 years. Arlene was employed in the accounting department of the New England Telephone Company for many years before retiring in 1985. Arlene was blessed with a dry sense of humor, a quick wit and a zest for life. She enjoyed living in Salem, the ocean, watching sunsets from the Salem Willows Yacht Club, traveling to Florida with her husband, cooking, music, dancing and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and entertaining with friends. She is survived by her children, Garry and his wife Janet Cook of Swampscott, Gail and her husband Dennis Flynn of Ft. Myers, Florida, Carol and her husband Dan Koerner of Marietta, Georgia, Janet and her husband Marc O’Brien of Beverly, Bob and his wife Elaine Cook of Salem, her beloved grandchildren, Lisa Tremblay, Tracey Pelletier, Erin Nutter, Terry Cook, Harrison and Dana Koerner, and Eric and Todd Nottingham. She is also survived by10 great-grandchildren. Her daughter Marilyn and brothers, Jack, Robert and William Feeley, predeceased her. The Cook family would like to extend their gratitude to the 3rd floor nursing staff of Rosewood Nursing Home and Compassus Hospice for the care and compassion bestowed on their mother at a very difficult time. Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Stroke Association.
