Obituary of Helen M. (Sullivan) Gallagher

Helen M. (Sullivan) Gallagher PEABODY – Helen M. (Sullivan) Gallagher, 90, beloved wife of the late William A. Gallagher, died peacefully on Tuesday afternoon January 26, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, while in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late John and Helena (McCarthy) Sullivan. She grew up in Lynn where she attended schools, and graduated from Lynn English High School. She attended Emmanuel College in Boston, and worked briefly with United Airlines. Mrs. Gallagher was mostly a nurturing mother at home, as family was important to her. She loved world politics, traveling, weekend visits to Vermont with her family, reading, attending Broadway theater or singing Broadway tunes, sitting by the pool, and sipping Jack Daniels Manhattans. She is survived by four sons and daughters, Karen Gallagher of Gloucester, Susan Flanders of Newburyport, William Gallagher of Scottsdale, AZ, John Gallagher of Exeter, NH, Rosemary Connors of Peabody, Nancy Mulherin of Peabody, Peter Gallagher of Townshend, VT, and Michael Gallagher of Danville, NH; 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother John Sullivan and a grandson. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 8:30 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 – 7 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. Memorial donations may be made to either a charity of one’s choice or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
