Obituary of Katherine "Kay" (Bezemes) Decoulos

Katherine “Kay” (Bezemes) Decoulos, 73, of Danvers, devoted wife of Chris Decoulos, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Beverly Hospital. Kay was born in Salem, on October 4, 1942, daughter of the late James and Effie (Saxonis) Bezemes. She was raised in Peabody, graduating from Peabody High School Class of 1960. She then pursued her education at Fisher Junior College in Boston where she received an Associates Degree. Prior to moving to Danvers 11 years ago, she raised her family in Boxford. Kay was a loving mother who devoted her entire life to creating a home for her family. Later on, she enjoyed spending precious time with her 8 grandchildren, caring for them, and celebrating each of their accomplishments. Kay’s greatest love in life was children, not only her own, but the several others she cared for as a nanny over the years. She had a special nurturing gift, striving to make a difference in each life she touched. Kay was a life time member and organist at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, a cherished member of the Boxford Garden Club, had a passionate flair for decorating, floral designing, gardening and cooking. She loved to entertain at her home, and carrying on Greek traditions with her family. Kay’s overwhelming warmth and compassion was felt by everyone she met. In addition to her husband Chris with whom she shared 51 years of marriage, she is survived by her adoring children and their spouses, Ellen and John Tibbetts of Danvers, Suzanne and David Farley of Boxford, James and Emily Decoulos of Hopkinton, and Christina and Mitch Salkovitz of West Newbury; her cherished grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Emily, Katie, Jack, Joshua, Olivia and Sydney; 2 loving sisters, Antoinette “Toni” Stamatos of Jamaica Plain, and Esther Bezemes of Athens, Greece; and many nieces, nephews, godchildren and a wealth of special friends. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home at 9 a.m. on Friday, February 5th followed by her Celebration Service at 10 a.m. at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody.
