Obituary of Sara C. (Rossi) Regis

Sara C. (Rossi) Regis PEABODY Sara C. (Rossi) Regis, 91, beloved wife of the late Mario Regis, Sr., died suddenly and unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday. Born in Casorate, Simpione, Verese, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Maria (Milani) Rossi. She emigrated with her family aboard the Steamship Dante Alighieri on December 2, 1920 and settled on Dane St. in Peabody, the neighborhood where she lived for the last 85 years. Mrs. Regis worked at Sylvania for several years, and was among the first group of workers at the Loring Avenue plant in Salem. She will be most remembered by her favorite calling as a nurturing mother. Social gatherings of friends and family were most important to her, as they would have Nona’ s home-made pasta, gnocchi, and other treats. She enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and teaching her family about creating their sustenance for life. She was a member of the Daughters of the Sons of Italy, and the Keefe School PTA. She will be missed by her family, including three sons and daughters-in-law, Mario & Janice Regis, Jr. of Peabody, Ronald & Sandra Regis of North Billerica, and Robert & Deborah Regis of Monroe, NH; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maria & Thomas Cares of Peabody and Diane & Timothy McMahon of Danvers; 19 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mario Regis, and was sister of the late Natale Rossi, Rena Cimon, and Frank Rossi. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John’ s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the Brian D.
