Obituary of Robert Elliott Glover
Robert E. Glover, 74, of Peabody, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning at his home following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Natalie (Dzick) Glover with whom he shared over 48 years of marriage.
Born in Springfield, he was the son of the late David and Mildred (Chittick) Glover. He was raised in Connecticut and was a graduate of Hamden High School. He later received his bachelor’ s and master’ s degree from the University of Connecticut, in 1954 and 1955.
He was a veteran of the Korean War who served with the United States Army. After the war, he worked for IBM as the Northeast Regional Financial Analyst for over 36 years, prior to retiring in 1991.
He was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers who served St. John’ s Parish in Peabody for over 30 years, from 1971 to 2002. He also enjoyed playing piano, Cello, and was a member of the former tri-town symphony. He had a passion for model trains and had his own extensive trains and track which he built from scratch. He also enjoyed puzzles; brainteasers and most importantly spending time with his family.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by 4 daughters and a son-in-law, Katherine McDonald of Wollaston, Christine Murtagh of Amesbury, Joan and her husband Rusty Gallant of Peabody, and Stephanie Glover of Peabody; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Barbara Glover of Westmoreland, NH; 3 grandchildren, Renee McDonald of Quincy, Elaine and Katelyn Murtagh, both of Amesbury; a great grandchild, Michael Serino of Quincy, and a nephew and several cousins.
His funeral service will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM in St. John’ s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Thursday from 4 until 8:00 PM, at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facilty. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
