Obituary of Susan J Mapes

Susan J Mapes, 58, of Lynn and formerly of Peabody, died Monday afternoon at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital with her family by her side following a brief illness. Born in Biddeford, Maine, she was the daughter of Arthur P Mapes Sr and Constance (Boutet) Mapes of Peabody. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1975. She has lived in Lynn for the past 19 years. For the past 29 years, Susan has been employed at her family’s candy store in Chelmsford as a manager and creative designer for the store. She enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening and going to the beach, but her favorite endeavor was spending time with her family. Besides her loving parents, Susan is survived by her brothers and sister, Brian and his wife Jacki Mapes of Lynn, Michael Mapes of Peabody and Kimberly and her husband Michael Burke of Peabody and by her special niece Shannah McShay and her husband Ryan, and her special nephew Jeffery Burke, and Casey, and by many other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dog Magnet Mapes and by the many friends at the dog park in Lynn. She was predeceased by her beloved dog Mugsy. A private family service was held on Monday at the family lot in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
