Obituary of Carmela "Cam" (Santomango) Lambert

Carmela M. (Santomango) Lambert PEABODY – Carmela “Cam” (Santomango) Lambert, 89, died peacefully on the morning of Friday February 12, 2016, surrounded by her immediate family, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a short illness. She is survived by her three children, Mary Cannata and husband Fred of York, ME, Diane Money and husband Tom of South Berwick, ME, and Richard Lambert, Jr. and wife Lynne of Tewksbury; six grandchildren, David, Laura, and Daniel Cannata, Milo Muise, and Meredith and Michael Lambert. She is also survived by two sisters, Margie Finnerty and Marie DiRamio and husband Victor, and many nieces and nephews. Cam is predeceased by her husband Richard, sister Ines Barbaro and husband Donald, her brother Anthony Sanotmango, Jr. and wife Lois. Born on September 29, 1926 in Boston to Anthony Santomango, who immigrated from Avelino, Italy and Margaret (Riccio) Santomango from Boston, Cam was the oldest of five children. She grew up in Somerville and many many friendships that she sustained until her death. Cam graduated from Somerville High School in 1944 and took classes at Fisher Business School in Somerville. She then worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts in Boston for 15 years, eventually becoming head of Human Resources. During that time, she met and married her beloved and devoted husband Richard Lambert, and started a family. They celebrated 52 years of marriage together. In 1964 they moved with their children to Peabody. In addition to caring for her children, Cam also worked at Macy’s, formerly Jordan Marsh, in the hosiery department for almost 30 years. Cam enjoyed spending time with her husband, family and friends going out to eat, reading and relaxing at home. Cam dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and was actively involved in their lives. She was a quiet support to many friends and family members. Cam was also a faithful parishioner at St. Adelaide’s Catholic Church in West Peabody for over 50 years. She will be greatly missed by all the people who knew and loved her. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Wednesday February 17, 2016 at 9:30 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
