Obituary of Robert F. "Rockin Rob" Pierce

Robert F. “Rob” Pierce, 68, of Peabody, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2016 with his dearest friend Kathleen by his side at the NSMC Salem Hospital. Rob was born in Peabody, on July 26, 1947, son of the late Francis and Virginia (Boulay) Pierce. From 1974 to 1977, he pursued his education at Salem State College with a major in communications, and during which time he worked doing broadcasting for the college radio station. Rob was also known for his D. J.’ing under the name of “Rockin Rob”. As a resident of Care One in Peabody (Peabody Glen) Rob had a great rapport with the staff and its residents. Daily, he would go to the “blue room” where he would sit and listen to the oldies on the radio, and could name that tune in five notes or less and knew the artist of every song. Rob is survived by his dear friend of 30 years, Kathleen Connelly of Peabody, her daughters, Dawn Hamilton-Stanley of Lynn and Alycia Hamilton of Peabody, and her grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, Jennifer and Owen. As an extended family member Rob spent holidays and attended at many backyard cookouts with them. He is also survived by an uncle, Richard Pierce of Sierra Vista, AZ. Although separated by miles, Richard was able to provide Kathleen with support and comfort during this time. For many years, Rob had his four legged companion, Zavia. As two happy souls in need of each other, they would be seen walking the Peabody Square area. Rob’s extended family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, February 22, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Celebration of his Life Service at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Haven from Hunger, www.havenfromhunger.org , 71 Wallis St., Peabody, MA 01960.
