Obituary of Roberta J Schankweiler

Roberta J (Corkum) Schankweiler, 67, of Peabody and formerly of Everett, died unexpectedly on Friday evening at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. Born in Everett, she was the daughter of Thelma P (Olsen) Corkum of Peabody and the late Robert W Corkum. She was raised and educated in Everett and has spent the last 50 years living in Peabody. Roberta was a graduate of Everett High School, class of 1966 and continued her education at Marion Court College and graduated with an Associates Degree in 1968. Roberta was employed for over for over 30 years as a legal secretary, mostly with the firm, Eckert, Seamans, Cherin, and Mellott, LLC Boston. Her favorite endeavor though was spending time with her family and friends. Roberta is survived by her loving son Stephen M Schankweiler of Haverhill, her beloved sisters, Joan Leblanc and her late husband Paul LeBlanc, and Patricia Corkum and her husband Daniel Robichaud, and the late Jean Corkum, all of Peabody, her niece and nephew, Robert and Ashley LeBlanc and is also survived by her family dog Katie. She was the former wife of Joseph Schankweiler. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St., Peabody and a visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy can be made in her name to the Joslin Diabetes Center, One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.
