Obituary of Helen F. (Lawton) Brooks

Helen Frances (Lawton) Brooks, 82, of Peabody died Wednesday evening at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home, Peabody after a long illness with diabetes. She was the wife of the late Eli D. Brooks. She was born in Worcester On July 26, 1921, the daughter of the late John P. and Lillian (Gordon) Lawton and had lived in Newport, R.I. , Lowell and Lynn Ma before moving to Peabody 19 years ago. She had been a waitress and hostess at the Colonial Country Club in Lynnfield for 20 years and later as an office assistant at the Salem Country Club in Peabody for 12 years prior to her retirement. She had been a member of the Ladies Sodality at the Holy Family Church in Lynn and later at St. John’ s Church in Peabody. She enjoyed doing knitting and crocheting. She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Priscilla Brooks of Peabody and Robert and Katherine Brooks of Northhampton, Ma. 4 grandchildren, Craig and Eric Brooks of Peabody, Robert and his Wife Dawn Brooks of Westford and Jennifer and her husband Steven Carey and a great grandson, Gabriel Carey all of Portland, Me. She was the sister of the late John and William Lawton and Pearl Caroccino. Her funeral will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 11:00 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours on Sunday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Realtives and friends kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, P.O.
