Obituary of Christine T Morfis

Christine T Morfis, 53, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Thursday morning at Salem Hospital. She was the devoted wife of the late Daniel M. Gass. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of Ruth (Pinkney) Morfis of Peabody and the late Chris G. Morfis. She was raised and educated in Peabody and attended Peabody Public Schools. Christine was employed as a baker at various bakeries and restaurants on the North Shore for many years. She was very active at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox as a Sunday School Teacher, she sang in the choir and was a member of the Daughters of Penelope and the Philoptohos Society and was past winner of the “parishioner of the year” award at St. Vasilios as well. Besides her loving mother, she is survived by her devoted son, James S Morfis-Gass of Peabody, her brothers Stephen, Peter, and George Morfis, all of Peabody, her sisters, Elaine Rice of Peabody and Jayna and her husband Richard Lowe of Beverly, her nephews, Connor Lowe, Thomas and Christopher Gass, her nieces, Arianna and Hannah Lowe and by several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her nephew, Peabody firefighter James Rice. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody and her Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Paleologos St. Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vasilios Church, 5-7 Paleologos St., Peabody.
