Obituary of Ruth A. (Reid) Vernon

Ruth A. (Reid) Vernon PEABODY – Ruth A. (Reid) Vernon, 97, died peacefully on Thursday March 10, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, following an extended illness, while in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Marion (Reed) Reid. She graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1936, and was a lifelong resident of the city. Mrs. Vernon had worked with Eastman Gelatin, CBS Hytron, and mostly with GTE Sylvania in Danvers for over 20 years before retirement. Ruth enjoyed embroidery, knitting and doing crochet. She was a longtime member of the 2nd Congregational Church in Peabody. She is survived by a daughter Sally Cutter of Danvers; two grandchildren David Cutter & his wife Sharon of Bedford, MA and Tracy Cutter & her husband William Law of Littleton; two great-grandchildren, Jaclyn Kaplan and Jadelyn Law; a brother Charles Reid. Jr of Peabody; a niece Carol Reid & her husband Allen Townsend of Andover; a nephew Thomas Reid of Solon, ME; and two great-grandnephews Justin and Stuart Townsend. She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by a son-in-law George Cutter. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation on Tuesday March 15, 2016 from 10:30 – 11:30 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30 AM in the funeral home.
