Obituary of James Robert Vaccaro

James Robert “Jimmy” Vaccaro, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, died on March 15, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at the Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was 77. Born in Beverly on October 24, 1938, he was the son of Attiglio and Elizabeth Vaccaro. He lived in Peabody most of his life, raising his family there. An avid sports fan, he could always be found in the front row of every game his sons or grandchildren participated in. Jimmy prided himself in providing for his family, only retiring at 75. He worked as a Die Cutter for North East Cutting Die in Portsmouth, NH. He was also an avid gardener and could often be found outside, tending to his tomatoes. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Jean (Stocker) Vaccaro; mother-in-law, Effie Barbrick; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Vaccaro and Maureen (McKenzie) Vaccaro; son, William Vaccaro and his fiancée Kimberly Sierzega; grandchildren, Amanda (Vaccaro) Kumm and her husband Brian Kumm, Allyson Vaccaro and her partner Ashli Croinex, Scott Vaccaro and his partner Kimberly Logan, Shawn Vaccaro, Cady Vaccaro, Samantha Vaccaro, Hannah Sierzega and Tommy Sierzega; and great-grandson, Charlie James “Chooch” Kumm; sister, Margaret “Peggy” Noonan; and brother, Paul Vaccaro. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Arthur Vaccaro, Thomas Vaccaro, Patricia Mosley, Barbara Chesley and Jack Vaccaro. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St DOWNTOWN location, followed by his Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
