Obituary of Rose M (Passanisi) Sweeney

Rose M (Passanisi) Sweeney, 83, of Peabody, died peacefully on Friday morning, March 18, at her home following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Daniel J Sweeney, Jr. Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Domenic and Josephine Passanisi. She was raised and educated in Somerville and has lived in Peabody for over 60 years. Rose was employed as a florist at several flower shops on the North Shore. Following her retirement, she enjoyed wintering in Ft Lauderdale FL with her husband. She enjoyed gardening, taking cruises with her husband and family, was an avid Red Sox fan and amassed an impressive collection of Ted Williams memorabilia. Among her favorite activities were Sunday lunch with the ladies, her dear friends, Ruth, Grace, and Barbara, and going to breakfast with her two grandsons. Rose is survived by her three loving sons and two grandsons, Daniel and his wife Anne Sweeney of Danvers and their son Nathan, Bill Sweeney and his wife Anita Dancs of Montague, and Paul Sweeney and his partner Marie Hanides of Haverhill and his son Donovan, her brother, John Passanisi of Danvers, her sisters-in-law, Millie Passanisi of Sandown, NH and Marie Passanisi of Newton and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Thomas and Charles Passanisi, Mary Rossetti and her husband John, and Nellie Astone and her husband Joseph, and by her sister-in-law, Betty Passanisi. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody. Her funeral mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM in St. Ann’s Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 9:00 AM at the funeral home. The burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Washington St., Winchester/Woburn.
