Obituary of Marguerite T. Keane
Marguerite T. Keane, 84, of Manassas, VA, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the Manassas Health Care Center in VA. Marguerite was born in Peabody, on June 23, 1931, daughter of John F. and Julia A. (Waldron) Keane. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from St. John’s Girls High School, and completed her education at Burdett Secretarial School in Boston. In 1952, Marguerite relocated to Delaware where she was employed as an executive secretary at DuPont USA. She was then relocated to their offices in VA where she spent most of her years in the same capacity prior to her retirement in 1990. Following her retirement, she purchased a Carvel Ice Cream franchise which she operated until 2000. Marguerite enjoyed golfing, quilting, crocheting and spending time with her friends. Marguerite is survived by her sister, Julia Marie O’Brien of Peabody; a brother, Lt. Colonel John F. Keane, USMC Ret. of Mission Viejo, CA; her nieces, nephews and their spouses, Anne Marie and Joseph Mandarano of Cambridge, James and Elizabeth O’Brien of Peabody, Timothy and Joyce O’Brien of Boxford, Susan and Robert Pierce of Beverly, Michael and Candace Keane of CA, Mark Keane of SC, Larry Keane of HI, Donna Pietsch of CA, Deborah O’Connor and Colonel Christopher E. O’Connor, USMC Ret.; several grand nieces and grand nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother-in-law, James P. O’Brien, and a sister-in-law, Nancy A. Keane. Marguerite’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church Street (downtown location next to City Hall and St. John’s Church) Peabody. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30th followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody.
