Obituary of Christopher P McCarthy

Christopher P McCarthy, 46, of Salem, died Saturday afternoon at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Janet (Robertson) McCarthy with whom he shared over 12 years of marriage. Born in Salem, he was the son of Edward and Kathleen (Prokop) McCarthy of Salem. He was raised in Salem and was a graduate of the Pingree School, class of 1988. He continued his education at Providence College and his received his bachelor degree in 1992. He later attended Mass School of Law and received his JD degree in 2013. Chris was employed with the Edmonton Oiler’s professional hockey team as an amateur- pro scout for over 19 years before attending law school in 2010. He later interned for various law firms. Chris enjoyed playing baseball, hockey and later golf and was an avid football fan as well. He also enjoyed cooking for family and friends and was currently the Vice President of the AOH Club in Peabody. Besides his devoted wife and parents, Chris is survived by his loving son, Cameron Patrick McCarthy, his brother Brian “Boo” McCarthy of Bakersfield, CA, his two cousin Robert and his wife Tracey Webb of Wenham, and Michael Webb of Beverly, his mother-in-law, Lori Bennett of Lynnfield, his niece and 2 nephews Kieran, Kaegan, and Brynnleigh McCarthy and is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and dear friends as well. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial services will be private.
