Obituary of Mary Cascio

Mary (Grasso) Cascio, 98, of Reading and formerly of Somerville and East Boston, beloved wife of the late Vito Cascio died Tuesday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Carmella (Longo) Grasso. She was raised and educated in East Boston and upon marrying her husband Vito, moved to Somerville where she lived for over 60 years before moving to Reading in 2003. Mary was first employed as a seamstress and later as assistant manager at the former Kennedy's Store in Boston. She continued working at Jordan Marsh and Macy's before finally retiring many years ago. She is survived by her loving daughter Beverly Oliveri of Plaistow, NH, her sister, Margaret Grande of Arlington, her sister-in-law of Rosemarie Grasso of East Boston, her loving and devoted grandchildren James and his wife Janine Oliveri of Danvers, Lisa Burns of Beverly, and Kim and her husband Daryl Brilliant of Georgetown, great grandmother of Brandi and her husband Matthew Gambardella, Jimmie Jr, Cameron, Michael, Ashley, Shawn, and Olivia and great great grandmother of Ayden. She was predeceased by her brother, Louis Grasso, her brother-in-law, Tony Grande and by her great grandson, Marc Burns. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 12:00 PM at St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St., Peabody. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 am until 11:30 am at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
