Obituary of Paul Thompson
Paul Thompson, 76, of Danvers, husband of Alice A. (LaFleur) Thompson, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 4, 2016 after being stricken at his home. Paul was born in Peabody, on January 31, 1940, son of the late Paul and Mary (Ugoin) Thompson. He was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School and then attended the New England Culinary Institute in Boston for 4 years. Paul began his working career as a cook and eventually became head chef for the Proctor House where he remained until its closing. He then became manager of the Courthouse Pub, and prior to his retirement in 2014 he drove for the Peabody Council on Aging, a position he held for 10 years. His family mentioned that Paul was a quiet person who enjoyed taking solo drives on Sunday and cooking all of their holiday meals. He was also an avid golfer and a member of the Danvers Fish and Game. In addition to his wife Alice with whom he shared 36 years of marriage, Paul is survived by his daughter, Cheryl A. Buchanan and her husband Marco A. Almeida of Danvers; a sister-in-law, Jean Melkunas and her family of FL and was brother to the late Anthony “Tony” Melkunas. Paul’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St. (downtown location next to St. John’s Church and Peabody City Hall) Peabody.
