Obituary of Walter J. Silva

Walter J. Silva, Sr. PEABODY Walter J. Silva, Sr., beloved husband of the late Tillie (Vasconcellos) Silva, died Wednesday at the Rainbow Nursing Home in Peabody following a long illness. Born in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Philip Sousa & Eugenia (Silva) Silva. He lived in Peabody for almost all of his life, and attended Peabody schools. He graduated from Peabody High School. Mr. Silva was a Second Class Engineer with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, a Custodian for the Peabody Public Schools, and Boiler Room Engineer with Danvers State Hospital. He also was an owner/operator of Chicken and Eggs Store for many years in Peabody. He was a long-time communicant at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peabody, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by: a son and daughter-in-law, Walter J. & Joyce Silva, Jr., of Peabody; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol & Herbert Collibee of Peabody and Linda & Bob De Sola of Ormand Beach, FL; five grandchildren, David Collibee of ME, Michael Collibee, Donna Sawyer, Matthew Silva and Leeanne Silva all of Peabody; four great-grandchildren, two nieces, and a sister-in-law Mary Guy of Salem. His funeral will be held on Monday at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St. location, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 to 6 P.M. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem
