It has been close to 25 years since I last spoke with Coach Driscoll, but I am very sad to hear of his passing. Coach Driscoll was the most influential person in my life. Growing up without a consistent male role model, Coach Driscoll filled that role for me. From my time as being the manager of his hockey teams until I graduated from Masco, he guided me with his life lessons. I remember skating the canal in Ottawa with the Driscolls, the hockey trip to PEI, the Sunday mornings he would pick me up to play goalie for Bobby Jr.'s team, the 4 years being on his varsity team, and working for him at the Cape Anne Hockey School for many years, Coach Driscoll made me feel apart of his family for over 15 years. I am truly a better person because of Coach and Mrs. Driscoll. I send my prayers to the entire Driscoll family at this difficult time. May you find strength in each other. I can say, Coach Driscoll, you are the best person I have ever met!

Sally, Bobby,Sara, Mark, Joey, Tisha, Bridget, Maggie, Sean, Katelyn and Teddy,
The first time I saw Bob was at the ten o'clock mass, he was sitting a few benches in front of me with his arms stretched out across the back of the bench and snuggled close on each side of him were a very little Bobby and Sara. I didn't know Bob back then but I knew this is one great dad. I didn't realize that for many years and many beautiful children later those arms would remain out stretched. Bob epitomized the meaning of family and fatherhood and all one has to do is glance at the ten of you to know that he excelled at this! St. John's and the city of Peabody has been blessed by Bob and Sally for so many years, not only did the Driscoll family feel his and Sally's love and commitment but anything and everything that they became involved received an amazing amount of devotion. Your husband and dad's unexpected death is such a tough one, all of the things that you think we're left unsaid. I know this, every time I saw Bob there was a huge smile on his face and the eleven of you put that smile there. I hope in the days and weeks ahead as this all sinks in and his absence become even more evident that your memories help you as you miss this amazing man whose life touched so many. I am so very sorry for your loss and thank you for sharing this incredible man with so many. Job well done Bob.

We knew Bobby at SDU as a young, vibrant, active man facing a promising future. Having read his obituary, I realize that, as he traced his steps across this earth, he touched and enriched the lives of many, many people through his fine work, as well as through his spirit of giving. We all contribute in some way but Bobby stands out as a distinctive human being. He was cast from a singular mold.
He was a rich man in his personal gifts, as well as having the wonderful family who shared his life, so that he most definitely must have felt rewarded for his energy and love.
Lillian and I cannot imagine what it must be like for you, his family, but our faith assures us that his soul, his spirit, is in the embrace of his Creator for a job well done. Our prayers continue for his family and friends in this time of loss. We are sure that he smiles down upon all of you.
Jack & Lillian Rapattoni

I am sorry for your loss. When we lose someone we love it can seem like we are swallowed up by our grief. The Bible describes death as an enemy, and how true that is. We alone cannot over come this enemy, but the Bible tells us that Jehovah God will destroy death forever. Then what will be the result, Revelation 21:3,4 says: "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Death will be no more, how comforting that is. I hope this brings you comfort in your time of grief.

I had the pleasure to be both one of Mr. Driscoll's students and athletes at Northeast Regional. He always seemed to have a light, kind hearted, always joking kind of personality. He was my psychology teacher and my track and cross country coach in 1978-1981. As a student in class I loved his personality. On the athletic field his light-hearted nature drove me crazy. I was always over-motivated, trying to work more than anybody else. I didn't relate to " rest" ... I wanted to work, be the best. So for a few years I always wondered how far I would've gone as an athlete with a "harder driving" coach. It wasn't until years later as a triathlete that I came to understand him and his ways. He knew my personality and worked to slow me down some in my young athletic years. It dawned on my once while training for an Ironman. I came to realize one can't over think or do it. He taught me to relax just enough and enjoy the process or journey. Athletic endeavor is like life. You win some and lose some. Sometimes things just don't go right despite countless hours of pain and planning. Winning isn't always being first... It's about truth to one's self, honesty of effort and goal and just the plain old joy of "doing it". For those valuable lessons I am forever in his gratitude.

to Bobby's family. Iam so very sorry for your loss. I am still shaking. I was on the bench when Bobby finished his shift. I turned to tell Bobby "great shift." I noticed he was having difficulty breathing. I yelled for the on ice official to stop the game. He did. A firefighter who was playing for Rhode Island skated right over to our bench. He started CPR immediately and began using the defibulator until the ambulance arrived. Bobby was transported to the hospital where he passed away. I skated with Bobby's brothers Dan and Dave. I just wanted to express my deepest condolences for your loss. The very first hockey camp my son, Alex, attended was the Cape Ann Hockey School which he participated in several times. He looked forward to it each day and loved all the fun games and drills Bob had planned for them. I recall that Bob was always smiling, energetic and enthusiastic. It was so evident how much joy hockey brought to him and the kids were most certainly aware of his passion for the game. In fact, my son still wears the camp jerseys as pajama shirts most nights so we are always reminded of the camp, Bob and all your family members who worked as instructors.

Mr. Driscoll made a tremendous impact as a teacher and as my track coach during my time at Northeast Regional. He taught us that " it's not the use of drugs but the abuse of drugs" that could affect our lives. He said it straight and those words still carry on with me today. As my track coach, I was a proud member of 4x 110 relay team that he brought over to Boston College in 1985 to compete. That was one of my proudest memories and accomplishments from a man who always encouraged his student/ athletes to strive for our personal best. I was in Mr Driscoll's history class at Northeast Regional Vocational High School back in the late eighties. That was when I started paying attention to history for the first time. I went on to get a bachelor's degree in American History. Mr. Driscoll was also my track coach. I was a terrible athlete, perhaps the worst he ever had. Somehow, Mr. Driscoll always found something positive and encouraging to say no matter what. He was such a blessing to us kids. I know that so many lives are better because of him and that's something that is impossible to repay or thank him for. I hope he would be happy to know that I became a state representative. I wish I could go back in time and spend another afternoon in his class, I wish I had appreciated that time more when I was his student. My deepest condolences to his family and many, many friends.
