Obituary of Katherine M. Hackett

Katherine Hackett, 90, of Peabody, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at the Rosewood Nursing Home following a brief illness. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Katherine (Ford) Hackett. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody, attended Peabody Public Schools and was class valedictorian of Peabody High School, class of 1936. She continued her education and received her master’ s degree in education from Salem State Teachers College. She first started teaching in the Peabody School System after college and then spent the majority of her career teaching math at Memorial Junior High School in Beverly, retiring 25 years ago. She also taught CCD at St Thomas the Apostle Church in Peabody and was very active with the Women’ s Organizations at the Church. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and tasting and eating the local cuisine. She is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation will be held prior to the service form 9:00 until 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
