Obituary of Janice H. (Broderick) Chaves

Janice H. (Broderick) Chaves, 63, of Danvers, loving wife of Anthony J. Chaves, passed away at her home on Thursday, April 28, 2016 with her family at her side. Janice was born in Lynn, on September 10, 1952, daughter of the late James and Helen (Lanngren) Broderick. She was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School in 1970. She and Tony met at the tennis courts at Lynn Beach and they were married in 1978 and in 1984 the family moved to Danvers. Janice was a real estate appraiser for over 30 years, and eventually led as the Director of Arrowhead Real Estate Appraisal Service, a company she and her husband founded together. Her work ethic was surpassed by none. But her true joy was as a loving mother and grandmother who created a home for her family and continuously supported them with their achievements. To her family and friends, Janice will be well remembered as one who enjoyed going to Disney World, FL, Disneyland, CA, and even across the globe to Hong Kong Disneyland Resorts where her passion for Disney was contagious and brought out the best in everyone, especially on Space Mountain. In addition to her worldwide travels, she was a fantastic baker who made the absolute best apple pies, bar none, and also enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, and playing tennis. Janice’s selfless drive for both work and family, always going beyond what was expected, always doing the right thing, and always being so generous and caring, are an inspiration to her children, her family and friends, and many of the people she has met throughout her life. In addition to her husband with whom she shared 38 years of marriage, she is survived by her devoted children, Anthony J. Chaves of Danvers, Suzanne J. Chaves of Boston, Leanne K. Chaves of Newton, and Matthew R. Chaves and his fiancée, Amy Keenan of Groveland; her cherished grandchildren, Olivia R. Chaves and Alexander K. Chaves; a sister, Marie Clement and her husband Robert of Danvers, a twin brother James Broderick and his wife Joan of FL, and brother Donald Broderick of Groveland; 4 nieces, a nephew, and many close friends. Janice’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, May 3rd from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her Celebration of Life service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, May 4th at 11:30 a.m. Her burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
