Obituary of Henry W. Murphy

Henry W. Murphy, 88, of So. Peabody, died Tuesday at the Salem Hospital after a 5 month illness. He was the husband of Bertha (Le Brun) Murphy With whom he shared 66 years of marriage. He was born in Peabody on August 8, 1913, the son of the late Dennis E. and Eva M. (Kimball) Murphy and was a graduate of Peabody High School and a lifelong Peabody resident. He had been employed as a machinist at the General Electric Co. in Lynn for 25 years prior to his retirement. He was also a talented finish carpenter and was a member of the carpenter’ s Union and the Local 21 I.U.E. Chapter of Lynn. He enjoyed taking walks, Gardening, and traveling with his wife. Surviving him besides his wife are a step-mother, Anna (Ruotolo) Murphy of Peabody, a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas W. And Linda Murphy of Bow, N.H., a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley J. and Dan Rich of Danvers, Ma., a half-brother and sister-in-law, James and Joyce Murphy of Worcester, a sister, Marion Le Brun of N.H., 3 half-sisters, Mrs. John (Pauline) Brennan of Peabody, Dorothy Zebron of Baltimore, Md. And Nancy Jo Boucher of Ma.; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchldren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Barbara A. Alexuk and Gerald H. Murphy. His Funeral will be held on Friday at 8:00 a.m. from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St., Peabody of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’ s Church, Lynn St., Peabody at 9:00 a.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
