(Glencross) Liston, 81, beloved wife of James Liston, Sr., died peacefully on Monday May 2, 2016 at the Masconomet Regional Healthcare Facility in Topsfield, while in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Mary (Casey) Glencross. She grew up in Peabody where she lived over 35 years, and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1952. She lived in Topsfield for nearly 47 years. Mrs. Liston worked in the law office of Judge John Murphy in Peabody, then was at the Essex County Registrar of Deeds in Salem and various judges in Salem before having her children. As her children were grown, she worked as a cashier at Masco cafeteria, and at Yankee Carpet she was in sales and interior design. Alice passionately enjoyed life, and had a gifted singing voice. She sang in the choir at St. Ann’s Church, and was requested at many weddings as a young girl. Having a curious and inquisitive intelligence, she enjoyed reading, travel, sang in Minstrel shows, loved animals of all kinds, especially her dogs, and was a Class Re-union Organizer. She also enjoyed square dancing with the Squares-N-Focus group. Her strongest dedication was her family values, and she was blessed with many friends. Alice's greatest joy and devotion was for her two grandchildren. She loved any reason for a social gathering, and would encourage all to have responsible fun. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband James F. Liston, Sr. of Topsfield, with whom she was together 65 years and shared 58 years of marriage; a son James F. Liston, Jr. of Danvers; a daughter, Jayne Bogart & her husband Ed of Topsfield; two grandchildren, Katelyn and John Patrick Liston both of Lake Mary, FL; four sisters, Jean Matvichuk and Beverly Griffin both of Peabody, Catherine St. Laurent of Lynn and Dorothy Peach of Leominster, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
