Obituary of Fritz K.A. Petersohn

Fritz K.A. Petersohn, 83, of Peabody, died Friday evening at the Lahey Clinic in Peabody following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Helga (Petzold) Petersohn with whom he shared over 55 years of marriage. Born in Weissenfels, Germany, he was the son of the late Karl and Minna (Mueller) Petersohn. He was raised and educated in Germany and after World War II; he immigrated with his wife and 5 year old daughter to the United States. He first arrived at Ellis Island in New York, and then moved around the local area, before settling in Peabody where he has been living for the past 47 years. He was educated as an engineer in Germany, but it was when he immigrated to the United States, his career as an engineer began to flourish. Together with two colleagues, he started his own Engineering Firm in 1965, the BSC Group based in Boston. He was a well known Engineer who was known for his global thinking and stressing the importance of education. He was instrumental in establishing a four year degree program in engineering at the University of Maine, Orono, as well as establishing a Fund Scholarship for in state students. He also was a charter member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Lynnfield. Besides his devoted wife, he was the loving father of Cliff and his wife Mary Petersohn of Georgetown and Petra and her husband Edward Clement, Jr., of Tewksbury, he also was the devoted and loving grandfather of Edward Clement, III and his wife Marianne, Michelle and her husband Joseph Silverio Jr., Jason and Christa Clement, and Elsa and Ethan Petersohn, as was the great grandfather of Justine, Joseph III, and Gianna Silverio, and Madison and Edward Clement, IV. He was the brother of the late Heinz Petersohn and Gertraude Grether. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the Messiah Lutheran Church, Lowell St, Lynnfield, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
