Obituary of Marc Philip Ceccarossi
Marc Ceccarossi, age 32, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington following a brief illness. Born in Stoneham, he was the youngest child of Marie DiStefano and the late Philip Ceccarossi . He was raised in Peabody. He attended local elementary schools and graduated from the Cotting School in Lexington in 2002. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English and philosophy from Salem State College in 2008. Marc was a voracious reader; he was never seen without a book. He loved science fiction and fantasy and was a talented fiction writer in his own right. He was also a poet, an artist, a collector, an avid movie-goer and a serious cat lover. Marc was a deep thinker and a gentle soul. He had a unique sense of humor. He battled health problems all his life, but his struggles were overshadowed by the size of his character. He is survived by his fiancee Heather Slavin; his mother, Marie DiStefano and her partner Richard Giorgio; his brother Bruce Ceccarossi and his wife Amanda Ceccarossi; his sister Kristi Ceccarossi and her wife Darry Madden; his best friend and cousin, Andrew Cardinale; two nephews and one niece; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father, who died three weeks before him. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 13 at 11am at the Northshore Unitarian Universalist Church at 323 Locust St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Lahey Health Behavioral Services, c/o the Development Office, 199 Rosewood Drive, Danvers MA 01923, or to be noted for the Cape Ann Adult Day Program, which Marc attended for the past three years.
