Obituary of Aristotle "Porky" Orestes Vontzalides

Aristotle “Porky” Orestes Vontzalides, 85, of Peabody, died peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers with his family at his side. He was the devoted husband of Elizabeth” Betty” (DeBruin) Vontzalides with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. He was born in Peabody, MA on December 14, 1930 , the son of the late Orestes and Hariclea (Calomiris) Vontzalides and was a graduate of Peabody High School and resided in Peabody all his life. Porky was the proprietor of the Reliable Oil Company of Peabody for 27 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed playing golf and had been a past president of the St. Vasilios Men’s Club. He was a veteran serving in the Korean War with the US Army. Besides his wife Betty, he is survived by his sons, Orest es and his wife Joyce Santacross of Bennington, Vt., and James and his wife Laurie Vontzalides of Danvers, MA, his daughters, Katherine and her husband Andrew Sylvia of North Smithfield, R.I., and Hariclea and Stephen Kostka of Lake Elmore, Vt., his step-sons Anthony and his wife Linda Salalayko and Michael Salalayko all of Peabody, a step-daughter, Elizabeth and her husband Kenwood Foster of New London, NH, his siblings, Aglaia Rouvalis of Meredith, NH, Anna Valaskatgis of Salem, MA and Helen and her husband Frank Goeckler of Conn, twelve grandchildren, a great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Brown. A Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Funeral Service will be held there on Monday at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
