Obituary of Margaret T Durfee

Margaret T (Shinkwin) Durfee, 79, of Peabody and formerly of Malden, died Monday afternoon surrounded by her family at the Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Danvers following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late John Durfee. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Shinkwin Sr and Helen (Porter) Shinkwin. She was raised and educated in Cambridge, later lived in Malden and has spent the last 8 years living in Peabody. Margaret was a stay at home mom who raised her four children and later enjoyed the company of her 10 grandchildren and sharing in all of their achievements and activities. She will be dearly missed by all. She is survived by her by her three sons, Patrick and his wife Melissa Durfee of Wilmington, Daniel and his wife Tracy Durfee of Ayer, Frederick and his wife Milissa Durfee of Bedford, her daughter, Marie and her husband David Colella of Peabody, her sisters, Jean Peters of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Kathleen Dix of Pawtucket, RI and is also survived by her 10 loving grandchildren, Ashley, Joffre, Hanna, Jonn, Kylie, Evan, Daniel, Mason, Nicolas, and Emma and by many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Daniel Shinkwin, Jr and sisters, Helen Shinkwin, her twin sister Mary Shinkwin, and Deanna McGrath. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St, Peabody.
