Obituary of Evelyn L. DelGizzi

Evelyn L. DelGizzi, 80, of Manchester-by-the-Sea formerly of Peabody, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Hathorne Hill Healthcare in Danvers with her family at her side. Evelyn was born in Boston, on September 23, 1925, the daughter of Amadeo and Louise (DiCroce) DelGizzi. She was raised in Boston and graduated from the Julie Billiart Central High School, then pursuing her education at Burdett Secretarial College in Boston for 2 years. In 1967 she made home in Peabody before moving to Manchester-by-the Sea in 1978. Evelyn began her working career at Boston Children’s Hospital before becoming the administrative assistant to the Chief of Children’s Services at MGH Boston, a position she held until her retirement in 1997. Being an active person Evelyn’s retirement was short lived and she became very involved with the Town of Manchester-by-the-Sea Zoning and School Board Committees. She was also a member of the Garden Club in Manchester and the Guild of Beverly Artists and as hobbies she enjoyed photography and painting. Evelyn is survived by her niece, Louise E. “Lois” Felteau and her husband Richard of Georgetown, a nephew, Robert A. Manni and his wife Andrea of Gloucester; 3 great nieces, 3 great nephews and a great great niece. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her sister Maria “ Mary” Manni and her husband Angelo, and her niece Gail Heroian and her husband David. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, May 28th from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody which will be followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody.
