Obituary of Carol A (Smith) Eagar

Mrs. Carol A. Eagar passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 28th, reunited with her husband and true love, the late Harry Eagar. Born in Peabody on April 23, 1935, to George and Ruth (Cunningham) Smith, she graduated high school from Saint Johns School in 1953. While raising her family she also enjoyed working for over 25 years for the Peabody Municipal Federal Credit Union, where she loved meeting and serving the city workers of Peabody. Carol’s greatest pleasure in life was caring for her husband and children; her true strength and compassion came through always when they needed her most, never more true than when she was her husband Harry’s rock at the end. She enjoyed playing golf, cards and endurance shopping. She loved spending time with all her friends from the Lakeshore Park neighborhood and dancing the night away with family and friends at the Knights of Columbus in Salem. Carol is survived by her three children and their spouses, Timothy and Jo-Anne Splaine-Eagar, Terri Garofano, Karen and Helder Braz; her grandchildren, Hannah, Henry, and Molly Eagar, Timothy and Harrison Garofano, Evan, Ben, Garrett and Nathan Braz; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Joanne Smith, Mary Smith, William Geary, Ken and Joanne Mizioch, James and Ellen Eagar, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Henry; her parents George and Ruth; her mother and father in-law, James and Mary Eagar; her siblings and their spouses George and Caroline Smith, Ruth and Joseph Doucette, Ralph and Francine Smith, Raymond Smith, Mary and William Hallinan; and her sister-in-law Mary(Sis) Geary. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carol’s memory to North Shore Elders 300 Rosewood Dr #200, Danvers, MA 01923 or the Alzheimers Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
