Obituary of Charles T. "Charlie" Trites

Charles T. Trites, 85, of Peabody, loving husband of Dorothy M. (Brusseau) Trites, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 5, 2016 with his family at his side. Charlie was born in Revere, on February 2, 1931, son of William and Agnes (Bucchanan) Trites. He was raised in Revere and graduated from Revere High School in 1949. In 1951 he enlisted into the U.S. Army and served as a Sergeant with CO B 112th Infantry Regiment in Heilbronn Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1954. He then pursued his education in telecommunication. In 1956, he married the love of his life Dorothy and in 1961 they made their home in Peabody. Charlie was employed for 30 years as a telephone technician at New England Telephone Company until 1984. He then began his own communication business which was known as the Independent Telephone and Communication Company which he operated until his retirement in 1994. Well know as a jack of all trades he then purchased and restored the Manor in Laconia, NH. In his youth he enjoyed playing tennis and was also a member on the N.E. Telephone Co. Quarter Century Club. In addition to his wife Dorothy with whom he shared 60 years of marriage, Charlie is survived by 3 sons and their spouses, Timothy Trites of Peabody, David and Phyllis Trites of Beverly, and Charles and Harriet Trites of Laconia NH; his cherished grandchildren Kristen Lewang, Shaundra Paine, Thomas Trites, Derick Trites, Trevor Trites, Kayla Trites, Michael Hutchinson and Dennis Hutchinson, 7 great grandchildren; his siblings and their spouses, Thomas and Jerri Trites of NH, Muriel and Thomas Dunn of Danvers, and Betty and Frank Sawyer of Winthrop, and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his daughter Patricia Hutchinson, and his siblings, Frank, Thelma, Bill and Jimmy. His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, June 10, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the MGH / North Shore Cancer Center, www.massgeneralnorthshore.org .
