Obituary of Nellie T. (Walor) Merrill

Nellie T. (Walor) Merrill 81 years of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Tuesday at the Lahey Clinic North in Peabody. Mrs. Merrill was born December 11, 1924 in Peabody daughter of the late John W. and Henrietta (Buras) Walor. She was raised and educated in Peabody and she resided at the same address in Peabody for her entire life. She attended the Wilfred Academy Hairdressing School in Boston. Mrs. Merrill owned and operated the Tremont Beauty Salon from 1966 until her retirement in 1978. She began her working career as an assembler at GTE Sylvania in Danvers and during WW II she was employed in the same capacity at General Electric in Lynn. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary PLAV Chapter 63 in Peabody who volunteered at the West Roxbury V.A. Hospital, and a member of the Polish, Russian, and Lithuanian American Citizens Club of Danvers. She was a former parishioner of St. Joseph’ s Church and was a very active member of the Polish Community. She devoted her entire life to her family. She enjoyed cooking and traveling to Foxwood & Atlantic City. Mrs. Merrill is survived by a son and his wife, Wesley R. and Linda S. Merrill of Peabody; 2 daughters, Kathleen N. Stabile of Round Rock TX and Susan A. Merrill of Peabody; 2 brothers, Frederick Pat Walor of Dracut and Louis Walor of Beverly; 7 grandchildren, Michael and Stephen Merrill, Daniel and Joseph Dunajski all of Peabody, Bryan, Adam and Lisa Stabile of TX and many nieces and nephews. Her siblings Julia O’ Donnell, Helen, Joseph, Walter, Stanley, Bruno, Michael and Frank Walor and her close companion Stephen Kobialka pre deceased her. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. location Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Salem - Peabody line. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Friday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers MA 01923.
