Obituary of Marie "Terry" Whittier

Marie “Terry” (Larue) Whittier, 92, of Peabody, died Monday evening at Care One Peabody following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late David Whittier. Born in Central Falls, RI, she was the daughter of the late Leopold and Florida (Vincent) Larue. She was raised and educated in Rhode Island, graduated from Central Falls High School, and then attended Rhode Island School of Design for two years. She has lived in Peabody for the past 63 years. Terry was employed as and receptionist for Dr. Wentzel in Peabody for many years before she retired. Terry was very active in Peabody and was a member of the Peabody Historical Society. She was a miniaturist gifted artist who sold her things at the annual crafts fair. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Cheryl Whittier of Peabody, her daughter-in-law, Nancy (Ashburn) Whittier of Middleton, and is also survived by her three grandchildren, Kimberly and her husband Billy Berard of Fremont, NH, Jonathan Grey Whittier of Woburn, Melissa Marie and her husband Robert Bruce of CT, her four great grandchildren, Jaxson and Jacob Bruce and Sydney and Seth Berard, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son David Grey Whittier Jr, her brother Andrew Larue and sister Adrienne Bouvier. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 am at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
