Obituary of John M Franco

John M Franco, 78, of Burlington passed away on Tuesday June 7 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He was the beloved husband of Dany (Marie) Franco. Born in Arlington, he was the son of the late Francis and Catherine (MacNeil) Franco. He was raised and educated in Cambridge and has lived in Burlington for the past 20 years. John was a proud graduate of Boston College in 1960. After college, John joined the United States Army via the ROTC program and served for two years before he was honorably discharged in 1962. He then attended Northeastern University and received his MBA. John was Treasurer and Vice President at the former Hycor Inc in Woburn for many years before he sold the company in 1985. He also was an Officer in the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts. Besides his loving wife he is survived by his two sons, Stephen J Franco and his wife Kelly Rafuse of Swoyersville, PA, John M Franco II and his wife Kathleen of Winchester, his two daughters, Patricia A Franco and her husband Charles J Clark, and Sheila J Franco, all of Washington, DC, his brother, Francis and his wife Cecile Franco of Dighton, his two sisters, Pauline S Franco of Medford and Margaret J Franco of Cambridge, his brother-in-law, Alan Dane of Birmingham, AL, his step children, Marie and her husband Mark Condon of Billerica, Eve M Reilly of Provincetown, Joseph H Reilly of Lexington, and is also survived by eight grandchildren and three step grandchildren of whom he was very proud. He was predeceased by his sister Catherine Dane and brother Daniel. His Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Monday June 13 at 10:00 AM at St. Margaret’s Church in Burlington to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be held at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 5 Edwards Rd, Burlington, MA 01803.
