Obituary of Michael Garofalo
Michael Garofalo PEABODY – Michael Garofalo, 89, died peacefully on Sunday morning June 12, 2016 at his home, while in the comforting presence of his family. Born in East Boston, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Ermelinda (Barbato) Garofalo. He lived there in his youth, then moved with his family to Medford where he lived for nearly 20 years. He moved to Peabody where he lived the last 54 years. Mr. Garofalo was a Machinist, employed by Tabular Rivet until retiring. He was a veteran of World War II, with service in the United States Army. Mike was handy, so he enjoyed tinkering and working around the house. He loved Italian music and the American songbook of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Al Martino among others. He lived a quiet life with dedication to family and friends. He is survived by a sister Gloria Deveaux of Peabody with whom he lived, and two generations of over 12 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Luigi Garofalo, and sisters Elena Maloney and Vincenza ‘Jean” Mini. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Thursday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Memorial donations may be made to VNA Hospice, 99 Rosewood Dr #180, Danvers, MA 01923.
