Obituary of Michael H Collins

Michael H. Collins, 70, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Wednesday June 8, 2016. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Richard F. and Mary A. (Laverty) Collins. He attended St. Mary’s in Salem from kindergarten through grade 8, and after moving to Peabody with his family in 1960, he attended Peabody High School and graduated in 1964. Following his high school graduation, Michael attended Mass Radio School and was subsequently employed by General Electric as a test engineer where he worked for many years. Michael continued working after his retirement as a school bus driver for Laidlaw Bus Lines. He also drove the courtesy car for multiple car dealerships on the North Shore. He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed watching New England sports, especially the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team. Michael is survived by his brother, James Collins of The Villages, FL, by his sister, Mary Haberek of Saugus, and also by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert M. and Richard H. Collins. At the request of the family, funeral services were private. Arrangements were made by the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
