Obituary of Mary (Lyons) O'Dowd

Mary (Lyons) O’ Dowd SALEM Mary R. (Lyons) O'Dowd of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Salem, passed away on March 7th in the Leesburg Regional Medical Center at the age of 81. She was married to James J. O’ Dowd for nearly 59 years. Mrs. O'Dowd was employed at the Naumkeag Drug Store in Salem for many years. She also worked at The Gardner Park Pharmacy in Peabody and at the Sylvania Osram building in Danvers. She enjoyed painting, decorating, singing and playing the piano. Mrs. O’ Dowd’ s husband James J. O'Dowd of The Villages, FL and formerly of Salem, lived a few days after her death, and they shared nearly 59 years of marriage. She is survived by: her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen & John DeAngelo, Sr.; a granddaughter Marianne (DeAngelo) Woodside, a grandson, John DeAngelo, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Patrick and Sean Woodside, and John DeAngelo, III.; two sisters, Angela Pickett and Elizabeth Andrews of Beaufort S.C.; two brothers, John Lyons of Peabody and Charles Lyons of Danvers; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia A. O'Dowd and by her son Brian J. O'Dowd. Also by her parents, Thomas and Florence (Walsh) Lyons, her brothers Richard, Paul, and Thomas Lyons; her sisters, Katherine Kolhonen, Madeline Trayers, Margaret Schevis, and Eileen Wright. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to her Funeral Service, which will be held as a double memorial service on Saturday, March 25 at 11 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody.
