Obituary of Francis A. Montecalvo
Francis A. Montecalvo, 78, of The Villages, Florida and formerly of Middleton, MA, died Wednesday at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, Burlington. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Frank was born in Malden MA on April 14, 1938, the son of the late Ralph and Jennie (Di Giacomo) Montecalvo. He is survived by his cherished wife of 53 years Marion (Reardon) Montecalvo, a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Donna Montecalvo of North Andover, and a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and John Edmands of Amesbury.
Frank was also guardian dad to Joseph Burns of Newburyport and Richard Burns of Panama City Beach, FL. His five grandchildren included, Amanda and Julia Montecalvo, Nicole and Brian Edmands and Kelsi Burns. Frank’s large family includes, brother Ralph Montecalvo and his wife Gloria of Malden, a sister Dorothy Gagnon and her husband Don of Boynton Beach, FL along with several nieces and nephews. His late brothers included, Angelo, Joseph and Anthony Montecalvo. His late sisters, Rosemarie Bowman and Margaret Raymon.
Frank was an avid golfer who played 4 times weekly and organized many groups at the Villages golf courses in Lady Lake, Florida and recently shooting his age! When back in Massachusetts he rejoined his Wednesday Men’s League at the Gannon Golf Club in Lynn. He also had a passion for Thoroughbred Race Horses and was an owner and breeder for many years.
Frank had been in the Newspaper Industry as a pressman for over 50 years working with the Salem Evening News, Boston Herald and Retired 16 years ago from the Boston Globe. He had been a member of the Boston Newspaper Pressman Union # 3.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, June 17, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, 140 Lynn St. Peabody at 11:00 AM.
