Obituary of Athas Barounis
Athas Barounis, 88, of Peabody, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday afternoon at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Stavroula (Sakkas) Barounis.
Athas was born is Velandia, Arfara, Kalamata, Greece, the son of the late Argerios and Konstantina (Katsogianis) Barouonis. He was raised and educated in Greece before moving to Peabody with his family in 1969.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Painter for Country Shore Painting Corp. in Peabody for 25 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening a variety of vegetables. He was also a longtime member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody. He will forever be remembered as a good family man and will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
Besides his loving wife,his is survived by a son and daughter-in law, Jack & Zepure Barounis of Bedford, MA; a daughter and son-in-law, Joanna & Alex Litzos of Wakefield, MA; his grandchildren, Stephanie Barounis, Christina Barounis, Stacy Litzos, and Angelina Pelletier & her husband Shane. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 24, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral will be held on Saturday, June 25 at 9:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church,7 Paleologos St. Peabody at 10A.M. He will be laid to rest in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
