Obituary of Harold J. Jean
Harold J. Jean, 82, of Peabody, died peacefully early Thursday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers with his family at his side. He was the devoted husband of 58 years to Priscilla (Patenaude) Jean. He was born in Salem, MA on May 20, 1934, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Magesky) Jean and was raised and resided in Peabody most of his life.
Harold was a graduate of Peabody High School in 1951 and had been a member of the golf team. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Army . Following his discharge he became a budget analyst for the US Air Force at the Hanscom AFB in Bedford for over 30 years prior to his retirement in 1991.
Harold was an avid golfer who loved to play for the exercise as well as the enjoyment of being with his fellow golfers and had been a member of the Amesbury Golf Club, later at Happy Valley Golf Club in Lynn, the Far Corners Golf course ,Boxford and for 30 years he and his wife played at the Wenham Country Club. He also bowled with the Wenham golf players at the Sunnyside Lanes in Danvers. In the past few years Harold began taking walks and had enjoyed going on golf junkets to Myrtle Beach, and the New Hampshire golf courses. He enjoyed people wherever he went and loved engaging in conversations with them.
Surviving him besides his wife Priscilla are a son and daughter-in-law Eric and Suzanne Jean and his cherished grandchildren Jason and Rachel Jean all of Georgetown, his sisters and brother-in-laws, Gloria and Ronald O’Leary of Hampton Beach, NH, Corrine and Richard Pramas of Peabody, a brother-in-law, Frank Barrett of Lynn, a sister-in-law and her husband, Roberta and Raymond Blasczak of Peabody and many nieces, nephews and host of friends. He was the brother of the late Donna Barrett, and Robert Jean.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 26 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home .Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
