Obituary of Bruce E. Hart
Bruce E. Hart, 78 years, husband of Pauline M. (Turner) Hart of Peabody, died Wednesday at the Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody after a brief illness.
Mr. Hart was born in Lynn on February 27, 1926 son of the late Ernest and Ellen (Lynch) Hart. He was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English class of 1942. During WWII he served in the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal in the Pacific Theater of operation. Following WWII, he pursued his education at Bentley School of Accounting and Boston University.
Mr. Hart was employed from 1946 to 1951 by the Boston Red Sox in the accounting department. In 1951, he began his career as a Financial Manager at the General Electric Riverworks in Lynn. During his tenure at G.E. he worked in Ft. Wayne, IN, Cincinnati, OH and Pittsfield, MA returning to the Lynn Riverworks in 1961 where he remained until his retirement in 1985. He resided in Peabody for 28 years, and then moved to Naples Florida where he resided from 1989 until his return to Peabody in 2003.
Mr. Hart served for several years on the J.B. Thomas Hospital Board of Directors, was involved for 25 years with Peabody Youth Baseball, served in many capacities in St. Ann’ s Parish and was a member of the F.F.W. Fidelity Post 1011 both in Peabody. He loved his grandchildren, was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed fishing as a hobby.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by 5 sons and their wives, Geoffrey B. and Margaret Hart of Gorham, ME, Terrence P. and Gayle Hart of Haverhill, Timothy R. and Catherine Hart, Richard T. and Victoria Hart all of Peabody and Bruce E. Chip Hart Jr. and Robin Hart of Norwell; 2 daughters and their husbands, Paula J. and Stephen Tosi of Beverly and Christine H. and John Winbun of Reno, NV; 9 grandchildren, Kelcey and Kim Hart of ME, Conor and Graham Hart of Haverhill, Cameron Hart of Peabody, Juliana, Nicole, Lilly and Elizabeth Hart of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Robert Hart and Evelyn Schwerin.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ann Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
