James J. O’ Dowd
SALEM--James J. O'Dowd of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Salem passed away on March 11th at his home at the age of 84. His wife, Mary R. (Lyons) O’ Dowd died just four days before, and they shared nearly 59 years of marriage.
Mr. O'Dowd was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre.
He was employed by A.C. Lawrence Leather Co. for more than 30 years. He also worked at the Hawthorne School in Danvers.
Surviving him is his daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen (O'Dowd) & John DeAngelo, Sr.; a granddaughter Marianne (DeAngelo) Woodside; a grandson John DeAngelo Jr., 3 great grandchildren Patrick and Sean Woodside, and John DeAngelo III; one sister, Elizabeth LaFreniere of N.H.; three brothers, Thomas O’ Dowd of Illinois, William O’ Dowd of Beverly, and Henry O’ Dowd of Peabody, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to his Funeral Service, which will be held as a double memorial service on Saturday, March 25 at 11 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody.
Urn burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
