Obituary of Paul Thomas Cody
Paul T. Cody, 83, of Danvers, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon at the Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody with his loving family by his side. Paul was born in Salem, MA on January 20, 1933 and was raised in Peabody. He was the son and first child of Marie L. (Coyle) and Charles W. Cody. After attending grammar school at St. John the Baptist School in Peabody, Paul enrolled at the St. Mary’s Boys High School in Lynn, graduating in 1951. Paul was admitted to Merrimack College following high school and was the first member of his family to go to college. He graduated from Merrimack College in 1955 with a degree in civil engineering as a member of the very first class of civil engineering graduates in Merrimack College history.
Paul began his engineering career at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and later worked spent 15 years with EG&G. After retiring from EG&G, Paul started his own very successful business, which he owned and operated until the time of his death. As president and owner of Cody Advanced Technology Sales, Inc. Paul sold sophisticated imaging equipment and software throughout the world.
Paul was the loving and devoted husband of Eileen (Dudley) Cody with whom he shared 59 years of Marriage. Together, Paul and Eileen had one daughter, Colleen, and spent many years living in Boxford before moving to Olde Salem Village in Danvers, where he served for years as a member of the Board of Trustees. Paul was well known in the Danvers and greater North Shore community, making friends wherever we went. . Paul enjoyed being with his family and enjoying the finer things in life.
He was also a communicant at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers where he served as an usher at the 11:30 Mass. Paul will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Eileen, Paul is survived by his daughter Colleen (Cody) Nalven, her husband Glenn, and his beloved granddaughter Alexandra Nalven of Danvers. He is also survived by his loving sister Ann M. Doherty, of Danvers, and brother Charles W. Cody and his wife Roberta (Pace) Cody, of Topsfield, along with his many nieces and nephews.
Paul’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to his caregivers, Liz McClung, Cheryl Richards, and Roberta Curtain, as well as the wonderful caring staff at Rosewood, in particular Autumn, Karen, and Jaime.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Annunciation Cemetery, Hobart St., Danvers. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Dana Farber cancer Institute, Brain Research, P.O.
