Obituary of Mary E. (Anderson) Kolhonen

Mary E. (Anderson) Kolhonen, 96, of Peabody formerly of Middleton, wife of the late Kasper Kolhonen, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Tuesday, June 28th 2016 with her dear friends Connie and Patrick at her side. Born in Peabody and raised in Middleton and educated at Essex Aggie Class of 1939 she was the daughter of Edward and Margaret (MacNeill) Anderson. Mary was employed as the head cook at the Cedar Glen Nursing Home in Danvers where she made many friends and held this position until her retirement. Connie and her family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Peabody for the exceptional care extended to Mary. “Thursday’s at Rosewood was referred to as the Girls get together day.” Mary is survived by her dear friend whom she considered a daughter, Constance “Connie” Scanlon and her husband Patrick Scanlon of Andover, their children Janis and David, dear friend Pam McElmon and family, cousins Gardner Robinson and Kt Cook; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Connie, Patrick and her family will receive relatives and friends at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody on Wednesday, July 6th 2016 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at which time her celebration of life service will be held, and then followed by her committal of ashes at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
