Obituary of Agnes E Berkhan
Agnes E. Berkhan, 85, of Peabody, died early Friday afternoon at the Grosvner Park Nursing Home, Salem, following a brief illness.
Born and raised in Holyoke, she was the daughter of the late Hans and Heneritta (Dobbins) Berkhan. She attended Holyoke Schools and was a graduate of Holyoke High School.
After High School, she worked as an aircraft engine mechanic during World War II, and as a sales clerk in a Department Store. She later worked for over 30 years for the telephone company. First, as a supervisor at New England Telephone and later in Advertising Sales for NYNEX Yellow Pages, before retiring many years ago. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
She is survived by several cousins and many friends and colleagues.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 9 until 10:45 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John's Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
