Obituary of Stephen Barna

Stephen Barna Jr., 80, of Peabody died peacefully on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was the devoted husband of 55 years to Jane (Flynn) Barna. He was born in Lynn, MA on December 8, 1935, the son of the late Stephen and Louise (Turgeon) Barna and was a lifelong resident of Peabody. He graduated from St. John’s Grammar School and from Peabody High School in 1953. He entered the US Air Force in 1955 where he served overseas in Turkey prior to his discharge in 1961. He then worked at A.T & T. Company as an I.T. Manager at the Andover plant for 34 years before retiring in 1996. He enjoyed taking cruises with his wife to the islands and Europe. Stephen was known for his famous Brew Beers that he started making many years ago and sharing them with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Jane, his two daughters, Marijane Barna of Peabody and Maureen Barna-King of Middleton, MA, and his nieces, Heidi Silvis and Holly Higgins both of Virginia. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 20, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
