Obituary of Jeannette C Searles

Jeannette C. (Lamarre) Searles, 81, of Peabody, died early Thursday morning at the Rosewood Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late George E. Searles. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosa (Brochu) Lamarre. She was raised in Salem and was a graduate of St. Joseph’ s High School. She later married and lived in Lynn, and in Swampscott for 23 years and had lived in Peabody for the past 23 years. While living in Swampscott, she and her husband George, owned the Searles Variety Store on Stetson Ave in Swampscott from the 1950’ s until the early 1980’ s before her retirement. She was a devoted to her family and her many grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, George Searles Jr., and his wife Charlotte of Beverly, Robert and his wife Joanne Searles of Rowley; 2 daughters, Irene and Robert Pitman of Peabody, and Ann and Paul Ingalls of Penacook, NH; 5 brothers, Robert Lamarre of Rochester, NH, Rosario Lamarre of Salem, Laurent Lamarre of Danvers, Rene Lamarre of Salem, and Lucien Lamarre of Haverhill; 7 sisters, Rita Cappuccio, Loretta O’ Brien, Theresa Grenier, all of Salem, Julienne Marks of Danvers, Bernadette Anketell of Salem, Martha Diebner of Bristol, NH., and Rosemarie Darisse of Middleton; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the sister of the late Clarence Lamarre. Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend.
