Obituary of Mario Casale
Mario Casale PEABODY – Mario Casale, 76, beloved husband of Marie (Cieri) Casale of Peabody, died peacefully on Monday July 18, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, while in the comforting presence of his family. Born in Bellona, Italy, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Antoinette (Fusco) Casale. He came to the United States, settling in East Boston at the age of 13. He graduated from East Boston High School, then enlisted in the Massachusetts National Guard. He lived in Peabody for the last 50 years. During his tenure with the National Guard, he was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Casale was an eager worker, and after short stints as a machinist and in the construction field, he tried making pizza. An entrepreneur, he opened his place, Mario’s Pizza in North Reading and operated until the late 1970’s. He sold it, then opened Mario’s Pizza in Salem that he operated 20 years until selling in the late 1990’s. He retired, but worked at T & L Liquors at the Hannaford Plaza in Peabody for 13 years. Mario enjoyed being in his garden at home, family gatherings, and extensive travel with his wife and granddaughters. He was most passionate about his family, especially doting on his cherished granddaughters. He is survived by his wife Marie (Cieri) Casale of Peabody, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage; two daughters, Karen Barney & her husband Michael of Ipswich and Denise Casale of Peabody; two granddaughters, Kaitlyn Barney of Philadelphia and Lauren Barney of Ipswich; four sisters, Lena Benincasa & her husband Carmen of Westwood, Josephine Consoli & her husband Guy of Westwood, Martha Rotondi of Watertown & her late husband Alfredo, and Annette O’Shea & her husband Ronald of Dedham; he was brother-in-law of Jaye Emar & her late husband Doug and Anthony Cieri & his wife Margie, and he also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gaetano Casale. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Thursday July 21, 2016 at 9:30 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held today, Wednesday, from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the Kaplan Hospice House, c/o Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
